A
critical piece of the Reading with TLC program, and a natural complement to
the
Lively Letters, Sight Words You Can See trains acquisition of the
most difficult sight words, those that are phonetically irregular. A missing
link in many reading programs, this unique product utilizes imagery, humorous
stories, and mnemonics to train decoding of those “tricky” sight
words - the ones that do not follow the rules of phonics. After progressing
through
Lively Letters (or some other language-based phonics program)
students quickly learn to read, and spell, words such as “have,”
“come,” “who,” and “what.” It features 84
sight words, grouped according to shared features, printed both with embedded
mnemonic pictures onto colored card stock (7 sheets), and without the visual
cues onto white card stock (7 sheets). The included easy-to-follow manual contains
directions on how to introduce and drill the sight words, pre- and post-test
sheets, sentence level and word dictation activities, and reproducible dialogue
boxes for easy introduction of the stories. Finally, your students will be better
able to move into higher levels of literature, as this program can open the
door to a world of books that are not phonetically controlled. The personal
sized set includes the instruction manual and the 1¾” x 4”
word cards, with and without cues.
